John W's Story
Life
It is so amazing that we have all managed to age this far in our lives. It would be great to hear from those of you that shared our high school lives for a brief time. A lot has happened since 1967 ... 55 years .. WOW!
After high school, I worked for JC Penney in McAllen, and then went over to Globe Stores there. All the time was attending Pan American College (University). Had an opportunity to move to Houston, so while I was waiting on that, got drafted in to the US Army. Spent 2 years mostly in Fort Ord California. Worked as a assistant NCOIC of personnel records under the Adjutant General. Left in 1973 to return to Texas. Returned to McAllen, back to Pan Am, then moved to Corpus Christi and UCC. Got another opportunity to move to Houston working for Woolco Stores. Guess that I was supposed to move to Houston, lol. Have been here since. Left Woolco in 1979 and worked for a data processing company ...Expand for more
for several years. After there, operated my own network computer company for a few years and finally retired. In the meantime, managed to be married and divorced three times. The last marriage gave me two more great children to add to my daughter from my first marriage. Raised the last two on my own as a single parent. Their mother was diagnosed with cancer and a few years passed away 2004. My mother passed away in 2005 and my father died this past summer in 2011. The last two years I had been staying with him and going back to my house in Houston for a week then back to his near Dallas.
Well, I am now the last of my generational family. My younger sister Shirley died in 2019 and my older sister Susan died in 2020.
My granddaughter had made me a great-grandfather with a daughter.
Have not married again - figured I was getting too old to have someone put up with me. LOL ..
